SpóirtFest Irish Sports Summit, 25th May, 2012
Welcome to SpóirtFest
SpóirtFest is the largest Festival of its kind in Ireland and promises to have something for everyone with an interest in keeping healthy and active. Aimed at sports participants of all levels and ability, whether you wish to participate or simply enjoy the atmosphere. It will also host Irelands first Sports Expo in 2012.
This year, apart from the festival at the end of August, we are also planning the inaugural Irish Sports Summit on Friday the 25th of May, 2012. We believe it is very important that the Irish sporting community, be it competitior or business, from all corners, and of all sizes, get together at least once a year to discuss matters of relevance to the sporting environment and hence we decided to introduce the Summit.
Our first festival in 2011 featured events in Lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee, American Football, Volleyball, Thai Boxing, Aussie Rules, Football, Hurling, Aerobics, Darts, Karate, Poker, Strongman, Wall Climbing, Golf and Hockey. Over 3,000 people turned out over the weekend, and we welcomed a 1000 spectators to the John Aldridge Legends XI match against a local Legends XI.
Ballincollig is a town located just outside of Cork City and we are a community who are proud of our sporting heritage and want to celebrate it through SpoirtFest. Everyone involved in organising SpóirtFest is a volunteer and anyone is more than welcome to come along and get stuck in!
